Marine Renewable Energies

MERIC focuses on interdisciplinary research for harnessing marine renewable energy and adapting the existing technologies to the extreme conditions of Chile.

Besides, MERIC examines international cases related to procedures, regulations and public policies that could be adapted to the Chilean context.

MERIC tries and develops sustainable management practices to combine social and environmental aspects when implementing marine renewable energy projects. Indeed, from a social point of view, it is essential to understand local communities’ interests to enhance projects’ acceptability.
